100 Days of Planned Chaos
100 days of Donald Trump 2.0 has already proven what a big mistake it was to give him a second chance.
A colossal, generation-defining mistake.
But more infuriating, it will take more days, weeks, months, and perhaps even years to pull people away from this ridiculous cult that continues to poison the minds of a large chunk of the United States population, as we see the vast majority of Americans shocked and horrified at just how stupid and ridiculous it has all gotten---and then become equally shocked and horrified that we still have a segment of the population supporting all this. He currently has the lowest approval ratings in the first 100 days of any president in modern history, but anything above 30% is still way too damn high a number.
The cruelty is the point, but there is an endgame in sight, and what has to be done is prevent the endgame from being reached.
But of course, it won’t be easy.
We have seen a pointless trade war giving us a potentially expensive summer and holiday season, a shrinking economy with recession looming in the background, news media and social media become threatened with cutbacks and legal action if people and corporations don’t fall in line, ICE behaving like the Gestapo, people losing their due process rights while being shipped to a prison in a foreign nation with our tax dollars, and then some same tax dollars being used to elevate extremists of the Christian and Jewish faith.
Hang on, there’s more.
We have now become enemies of our neighbors to the North, while looking outrageously foolish to our neighbors to the South. Canada was our most trusting ally, and we have totally trashed that relationship by allowing Trump to win, and therefore having a president threatening to annex multiple countries, including Canada itself, which has our reliable neighbors prepared to rip apart all trade relationships and perhaps even consider a move towards the European Union. The recent elections in Canada and Greenland were public displays of rejecting Trump’s politics and political partners domestic and foreign.
Mexico in the meanwhile has slowly but surely begun distancing themselves from the United States under the Morena Party, as the left-wing coalition has looked towards China and even Latin America for more stability in terms of trade and partnerships. It also doesn’t help to see the Trump Administration declare the cartel as terrorists with the sole purpose of having an excuse to enter Mexican terrain to “fight terrorism.”
He has pointed to minorities, judges, lawyers, universities, protestors, Democrats, and especially the far-left as “the enemy” and as examples of people that supposedly hate America. So yea, we’re once back to the extreme divisive politics from the initial MAGA era that ultimately ended in political violence during a global pandemic and even an assassination attempt on the vice-president. Funny how many within MAGA forget that Mike Pence was a few bad turns away from dying on the streets.
So yea, Trump wants to annex Canada, annex Greenland, annex Panama for their canal, fight a war against the cartel in Mexico, while also essentially allowing Russia to keep territory it illegally possessed from Ukraine to appeal to the Russian dictator that started the hostilities in the first place.
Hang on….there’s more.
The ongoing genocide happening in Palestine will escalate even more as Donald Trump leans towards his Christian Nationalism fandom and his friendship with ultra war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu by making a plan to try to transform the Gaza Strip to American/Israeli territory with business and tourism opportunities for multiple nations not named Palestine. And you might be wondering, what’s Trump and War Criminal’s plan for the Palestinians already living there? Ethnic cleansing, of course. Neither of these folks nor the ones supporting this are ever going to see heaven. From the River to the Sea, by the way…
So yea, war crimes, ethnic cleansing, intense challenges of the first and fifth amendments, an increasing police state trying to eradicate due process for everyone, shakedowns on companies and even law firms that challenge the word and rhetoric of MAGA, the ongoing hostilities of Christian and Jewish Nationalists creating violence and moral decay across the nation, all while billionaires have raided the White House and made out like bandits as they’ve invested millions towards an administration that might earn them billionaires for the next several years if the budget reconciliation bill passes through. All this while they lie about what’s actually happening every single step of the way.
This is all happening so fast, so frantically by design.
The goal of these billionaires and MAGAts who will follow Trump to the ends of the earth is to overwhelm the media and the American citizens with wild news and wild headlines on an hourly basis to distract while trying to sneak in these billionaire-friendly tax cuts and budget cuts that will allow the rich to become richer while draining even more from a U.S. economy that has failed to properly distribute towards the working class. If you keep throwing shit on the walls from a wide variety of angles, then you’ll struggle to realize who is responsible and who is enabling the violence, corruption, and thievery. If you keep being cruel, then you will increase your chances of complacency of a public that’s emotionally drained from all the atrocities domestic and foreign.
They want the cruelty to be normalized, all while having an endgame in mind: the budget reconciliation bill.
Everything that the Trump Administration is doing matters, don’t get me wrong, whether it be wanting to politically and maybe even militarily spar with other nations or even bringing back a single individual from El Salvador who was illegally shipped out of the country. But, the biggest goal of all is to prevent those ridiculous and nation-crippling tax cuts from going through, the goal for us as the opposition should be to rip apart the blueprint of MAGA’s anti-middle class and pro-billionaire bill and ultimately allow them to politically wreck each other when they don’t get what they want.
To destroy the wasp nest, you kill the queen. In this case, the “queen” is the stupid bill.
Trump and MAGA’s golden goose is the mere passing of this bill; all the money handed to them by the likes of Musk, Bezos, Zuckerberg and other selfish greedy slimy billionaires was an investment to fund the extension of the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. Everything being done, all the greed, all the money-grubbing decisions, all the trade war nonsense, all the DOGE-related chaos, is so the handouts to billionaires can go through and then Trump will go back into hiding in his Florida home until the term is almost over and he can begin campaigning again to make even more money and to try to maintain his distance from the shortening arm of the law.
This is why Bernie Sanders developed his gameplan of visiting Republican-dominated districts across the country, he knows that the conservative voter can put up with a lot, but will not accept the idea of even more tax cuts for billionaires and massive cuts to many social services to make up for the difference. We have seen other performative actions like Booker’s record-breaking performance filibustering *checks notes* nothing, but the fight means nothing if the Republicans still feel safe enough to pass super-unpopular legislation.
Everything has been put on the chopping block for the likes of Elon and Bezos: libraries, schools, Medicaid, medicare, social security, mental health services, medial research, infrastructure, and of course battling the shifts in climate. Even Sesame Street is at risk, even the Weather Channel has been attacked by cutbacks, and Trump even killed a measure that is just about planting trees in regions lacking them. Tens of thousands of federal workers have lost their jobs without actual reasons outside trying to lower the budget in order to allow giant corporations to pay less. Millions of lives are at risk, and millions more are likely to see a worse standard of living if the cuts continue and become processed with political approval.
MAGA, Trump, the Billionaires, the Mega Corporations are enjoying the onslaught of controversies, the smokescreens of chaos, because it brings them closer to sneaking in what they truly desire, the passing of that bill.
This is why Trump is shipping people to El Salvador with taxpayer money.
This is why kids with cancer are being deported, even legal U.S. citizens.
This is why Trump is defying the courts and wanting to bypass due process for thousands of people being detailed.
This is why Trump has suddenly become fine with the upcoming price hikes happening this summer once the tariffs really kick in and Americans start to realize how much of what we consume comes from China.
This is why Trump continues to playfully flirt with the nonsense ideas of Canada being a 51st state and maybe running for a third term, its all a stupid smokescreen.
Donald Trump is a businessman with authoritarian vibes with his mind set on money, not necessarily on actual ongoing power. Trump’s god is money, and he’ll do anything imaginable to hang on to his wealth and financial status. He spends more time trying to figure out how to make extra money as opposed to seeking ways of becoming a dictator, with the authoritarian blueprints being crafted by people within his circle, people who love bullies and hate helping others. Trump loves the spotlight, loves the attention, and thrives off of negativity and people battling each other every second of every day.
Money has always been the endgame, money was his motivation way back in 2015 when he surprisingly rose up the ranks and surprisingly won that cursed election. Trump back then would have been fine with losing his election but making billions off those stupid red hats (remember he almost ran for president back in 2000 but realized it just wasn’t worth his time, effort, and money). Trump would have been fine going on a nationwide tour complaining about his loss while selling merchandise, and he may have been part of the initial wave of podcasts that have taken over social media. But he unexpectedly won, realized how much more access to money he actually has, and once he lost those abilities and the law suddenly got closer, clawed his way back to the political atmosphere.
My point in discussing all this is that we as Americans (or American citizens, as some like me have denounced the current culture of this country) have a responsibility to keep up the pressure against our representatives, reject the attempts to normalize the indecent behavior towards the vulnerable like the trans community and all immigrants, and toss our money towards good causes and companies that won’t comply to all this authoritarian, pro-billionaire, pro-dictatorship nonsense.
Spend local, spend on charities, give money to actually good politicians who won’t take corporate money, spend to institutions who may not be able to depend on the government to stay afloat (PBS, NPR, Wikipedia). None of what you see is normal, but more importantly, none of this is acceptable. Its going to continue until they get what they ultimately want, but if we can drag that carrot farther and farther away from their greedy reaches, then you’ll see the chase begin to wind down. This entire movement of white Christian nationalist stupidity could have been eradicated if he had been defeated the first time, and we’ve had many chances to stomp this out. Of course, the Democratic Party being as ridiculous as they are never helps, but nothing that you’re seeing now is an ongoing inevitability, it will require a lot of hard work and concentrated activism but MAGA can be defeated again.
No two people are the same, and no two scenarios are the same. Not everyone will have the capability to protest with their wallet, not everyone is able to go out and march for their rights and the rights of others. But collectively with enough people calling their representatives, crashing the town halls, boycotting select companies, e-mailing senators, financially supporting those in the frontlines, supporting local and independent journalism, tossing money to public services, and just maintaining focus on ensuring that the billionaires do not get what they want, we still have enough power to shift the tides and make the trip as rocky and as unnerving as possible for them.
100 days have passed, with hundreds more to go (unless…..you know…..)
But the fight isn’t over, and victory has yet to be declared. Grab those boxing gloves and be ready for Round 2.
